Babies Born in Withdrawal From Prescription Drugs
Rock Center’s Kate Snow visits the neonatal intensive care unit at The Children’s Hospital in Ft. Myers, Fla. Of the 55 newborn babies in the unit, five of them were born with in withdrawal to the prescription drugs their mothers were taking while pregnant. I just caught the show last night. It was well done. There have been many other news pieces done on the prescription drug epidemic we have in this country, yet I feel that many people are still unaware of how enormous of a problem this is.

Thanks, Kay. So good to hear from you. I still read your very helpful newsletters. Still would like to partner with you about patient safety issues but am starting a new academic program next month in clinical informatics next month. After it’s completion in a year, I will hopefully be in a formidable position to effect some positive change regarding quality and patient safety issues on a larger scale. Especially where it involves patients and hospitals.

Great to hear from you as well. I read your posts with great interest. You are doing such a great service for patients and consumers.
